Reducing our emissions

* This website hosting company uses what are called REC’s or Renewable Energy Certificates, which are a market based accounting system to measure emissions. While they do help fund renewable energy, they misrepresent an entity’s actual real emissions. As a company can purchase RECs to claim a reduction, but still have no change in its actual net emissions. (Brander et al. 2017 ).

As such we are working with that web-hosting company to choose a data center with the lowest emission rating based on a location specific grid average method. If this does meet our commitment to real emission reductions, please expect a temporary website blackout while we switch to a web hosting service emissions reduction choice.
