Tagae is a Waorani word meaning roughly the skin or scales of a fish. A name given to me by members of the tribe in the Western Amazon region of Ecuador whilst studying biogeography in there in 2007.

Their land, in the Yasuni National Park, hosts incredible species diversity. Yet competing interests threaten both the native people and biota, requiring socially wise intervention.
